Resetting a Forgotten Bitlocker PIN

Process to follow if you wish to change your PIN

Go to the Control panel and chose “Bitlocker Drive Encryption.”
Or, if you prefer, from start button(or from search icon from the taskbar) type in “manage Bitlocker” to select and launch the Bitlocker drive encryption page

On this page, you will have options for changing your BitLocker PIN.

Process to follow when you have forgotten your Bitlocker PIN:

1. Recover the Operating System

Contact ECN (either by using the ContactUs page, or by calling into 44326). Be prepared to authenticate yourself.

ECN will read off a Bitlocker Recovery Code (this is VERY LONG - 48 characters, so please be patient).Alternatively, they might send it to you via the file locker service.

Use this Recovery Code to log into the system.

 

2. Reset the Bitlocker PIN to something you can remember

Go to the Control panel and chose “Bitlocker Drive Encryption.”
Or, if you prefer, from start button(or from search icon from the taskbar) type in “manage Bitlocker” to select and launch the Bitlocker drive encryption page
 
On the page, you will have options for changing your BitLocker PIN if you remember the old PIN; or you would have an option for “Reset Forgotten PIN”.
 
Use the Reset Forgotten PIN. This process asks for administrator access, please use your local admin username and password when prompted for changing the PIN.
