This workshop is Part 2 of the series and provides in-depth guidance on how to write a compelling personal statement. We will cover what content to include, recommended organization, and tips on tone, style, and aligning your story with NSF's review criteria. Interactive help sessions will be offered throughout June, July, and August. Please note: the NSF GRFP is open only to US citizens, nationals, and permanent residents.

We will discuss how to define a focused research plan, address NSF’s Broader Impacts and Intellectual Merit criteria, and connect the research statement to themes introduced in your personal statement. Trail Blazers in Engineering

Purdue Engineering is aiming for maximum impact outcomes in our mission areas by 2030, one of them being the development of the largest, best-prepared, and most diverse engineering talent pool in the nation. Casting our view even beyond our campus, Trailblazers in Engineering (TBE) is an initiative intended to increase the number and success of engineering faculty in the US, who, in turn, will blaze new trails with new discoveries, innovations, and social impact and serve as role models for the next generation of engineers. Late-stage PhDs and post-docs would benefit the most from this workshop.

This preeminent event is designed to give participants the opportunity to explore and prepare for a faculty position in academia.

Join a select cohort of engineering PhD students, recent doctoral graduates and top faculty and deans from around the country. Airfare and lodging costs associated with the program are covered for accepted applicants.
