Students voted in record numbers this year and gave LeGrand the E.F. Bruhn Teaching Award from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Dianyun Zhang, Tyler Tallman and Joseph Jewell have been promoted to associate professors. Briony Horgan, an EAPS faculty member with a courtesy appointment to AAE, was promoted to full professor.

Accessible program is designed to bring working engineers up to speed

Testing new designs for jet engine turbines is no easy task. Wind tunnels are large, complicated, and expensive; and building functional prototypes takes a long time. But Purdue University researchers now have an alternative: a water table which simulates supersonic flow, enabling them to quickly test and iterate their designs.

The AFSB brings together subject matter experts from across aerospace to provide independent, objective, and authoritative external advice to the Department of the Air Force.

These international teams will test their pursuit, sense-and-avoid and navigation software in the largest indoor motion-capture environment in the world: the Purdue UAS Research and Test Facility (PURT).

The award-winning distinguished professor will deliver the keynote address at the university’s spring commencement ceremony for master’s and doctoral students.
