AIMBE played a pivotal role in helping to establish the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) at the National Institutes of Health and is now a founding member of the FDA's Network of Experts, a new program connecting FDA regulators with our College of Fellows, the best experts in the biomedical space.
AIMBE's current advocacy efforts are enabled by the expertise and rich knowledge of our Fellows and their contributions on how BME innovations take place. This past year has seen examples of our contributions advancing a call from NIH Director Collins for an AIMBE committee, consisting of AIMBE Fellows, to study and write a report on the future of the SBIR and STTR programs. Fellows are also participating in the FDA Network of Experts, leveraging their scientific expertise to improve the regulatory pathways that lead to innovations.
