A lifelong Boilermaker fan, Mimi said she always wanted to attend Purdue.
Why I chose Purdue Civil Engineering
I’ve always loved engineering and building things. As a kid, I used to build roads for my Barbie dolls even. Then, when I was 15, I came to Purdue’s Women in Engineering STEM careers seminar — and that’s when I really fell in love with civil engineering. Civil engineering is such public-focused that serves so many people. And, if you do your job right, no one will really know what you did.
Emphasis area
My emphasis area is in Geotechnical Engineering. I just really like the working with soil. It can be unpredictable and it’s something to you have to work with rather than against to achieve what you want.

Mimi participated in the Purdue Civil Engineering Co-Op Program with Terracon.
Co-op program
During my time here at Purdue, I was involved in the school’s co-op program and worked for Terracon. Through it, I gained professional experience that simply could not have been possible otherwise. It is also where I discovered how much Geotechnical Engineering appealed to me as I was often tasked with conducting soil testing and analysis.
After I graduate
After I graduate this fall, I plan to pursue my Master’s degree in civil engineering. I believe a graduate degree will be vital before I enter the career field as I plan to continue to work with and study soil.

Mimi is a member of Purdue ASCE and was a member of their concrete canoe team.
