Research Interests

Professor Masuku’s research focuses on Process Synthesis and Development; Systems Engineering and Design; and Process Intensification and Optimization. This involves development of novel equipment designs that produce dramatic process improvements including reduction in size, waste production elimination, energy consumption efficiency and process safety. Which is an essential enabling strategy for new opportunities that greatly benefit the process industries.

Professor Masuku has a vision of optimal utilization of available resources while also developing renewable energy options. This includes synthesizing sustainable processes while accounting for costs, design complexity, safety, and environmental constraints. With the drive to bring back manufacturing back to the United States, Professor Masuku’s skills and expertise in Process Synthesis provide unparalleled advantages in terms of exploring options and production pathways for new chemical processes.
