Dr. Jing Zhang —Associate Professor in Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)
Abstract: Alloys manufactured using additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing techniques have increasingly served as functional components. However, their full potential remains unrealized due to intrinsic microstructure and properties from the AM process. In this work, we utilize coating technologies to enhance the specific properties of AM'ed alloys for various applications. Three case studies are presented:
Biography: Jing Zhang is an Associate Professor of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Drexel University in 2004. He was a guest faculty researcher at Argonne National Laboratory during his sabbatical leave in 2022. His recent research interests include additive manufacturing and ceramic materials for energy production.
