ABSTRACT
Due to the rapid increase in demand for highly reliable, strong, stiff and lightweight structural materials in many modern industries, architectured micro-lattices are receiving increasing attention for their unusual physical and mechanical properties that are hard to achieve in fully dense materials. As one of the most promising metal additive manufacturing technologies, laser powder bed fusion is favored for its ability to produce parts with precise geometry and excellent properties. This report will summarize the current research on AM micro-lattice classification, unit cell design, and various mechanical properties of different micro-lattice structures. This report will also conclude the main factors affecting the properties of metallic micro-lattices, along with several approaches to enhance their performance.
