Thornell Takes Second Place at Adhesion Society Poster Competition

Travis Thornell, a second-year Materials Engineering graduate student advised by Prof. Kendra Erk, was recently named First Runner-Up in the Student Poster Competition at the 38th Annual Meeting of The Adhesion Society (Feb 22-25, 2015 in Savannah, GA).

Travis’s poster was entitled, “Fracture-Healing Kinetics of Physically Associating Thermoreversible Gels” and it described the nonlinear deformation response and healing behavior of soft polymer gels that are exposed to large shear forces. This work was published in ACS Macro Letters in late 2014.
