NE Ambassadors conduct session during Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED)
Cailyn Ludwig, Anna Biela, and Clare Wilsbacher led hands-on activities with approximately 25 high school freshmen and sophomore girls at the one-day event designed to increase interest in engineering among early high school students.
Sponsored by Purdue Women in Engineering Program, this on-campus event allows girls to explore different engineering disciplines, meet and work with current engineering students, and make new friends.
Ludwig, Biela, and Wilsbacher conducted a scenario, “radioactive” golf ball, where participants had to create a device that safely transported radioactive golf balls from one place to another without contaminating themselves. Students also experienced using detectors to determine how much radiation is in everyday life.
