Professor Shripad Revankar elected Fellow of American Institute of Chemical Engineers
The AIChE Admissions Committee makes its nominations based on several rigorous criteria. The committee examines the nominee’s long-term excellence in chemical engineering practice, normally over a period of 25 years or more; service to the profession of chemical engineering; and significant professional accomplishments.
Dr. Revankar (pictured left) is a Professor and Director of Multiphase and Fuel Cell Research Laboratory. He is also BK21st Visiting Professor at Pohang University of Science and Technology, South Korea. His current research interests are in multiphase flow and heat transfer, microgravity multiphase flow in packed beds, fuel cell design, simulation and power systems, thermochemical processes, hydrogen production and storage, and reactor safety and thermal hydraulics. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Physics from Karnatak University, India, Post Graduate Diploma in Vacuum Science and Technology from University of Bombay, India, and M.Eng. in Nuclear Engineering from McMaster University, Canada.
Dr. Revankar has published over 350 peer-reviewed papers in archival journals and conference proceedings, and two books. His book Fuel Cells: Design, Principle and Analysis published by CRC Press in 2014 has been widely used as textbook in this area. He recently was part of a team of inventors that was granted a U.S. patent for their invention that provides a process of producing ceramic-ceramic composites, including but not limited to nuclear fuels, and composites capable of exhibiting increased thermal conductivities. He is Chief Editor of journals, Frontier in Energy Research- Nuclear Energy and International Journal of Magnetism & Nuclear Science, and serves on editorial board of eight international journals. He is also Fellow of American Nuclear Society (ANS) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
The AIChE Fellow grade of membership was approved by the organization in 1969. The number of Fellows at any time shall be limited to five percent of the sum of the number of Fellows, Senior Members, and Members.
