Purdue University has been chosen by the Indiana Office of Energy Development (IOED) to research small modular nuclear reactor (SMR) technology and assist in the development of a comprehensive transition plan and supportive policies that benefit Indiana's energy management.

Seungjin Kim, professor and Capt. James F. McCarthy, Jr. and Cheryl E. McCarthy Head of the School of Nuclear Engineering, has been unanimously elected as the new Chair of the Council of Advisors of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) Global Forum on Nuclear Education, Science, Technology and Policy.
