NE Professor Bertodano publishes new monograph

School of Nuclear Engineering Associate Professor Martin Lopez de Bertodano recently authored a textbook, Two-Fluid Model Stability, Simulation and Chaos, with co-authors: NE graduate William Fullmer, Research Assistant, University of Colorado, Boulder, Professor Alejandro Clausse, Universidad Nacional del Centro, Argentina and Professor Emeritus and former Department Head Victor H. Ransom.

NE student Amanda Loveless awarded 2016 DEIS Graduate Fellowship

Purdue Nuclear Engineering graduate student Amanda Loveless has been awarded the 2016 IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) Graduate Fellowship for her proposal, Derivation of Scaling Laws for AC Breakdown Voltage in Microdischarges.

Senior Andrew Adelsperger emcees 2016 Dean's Homecoming Dinner

School of Nuclear Engineering student Andrew Adelsperger recently served as emcee at the 2016 Dean's Homecoming Dinner. The event, held on October 13 in the France A. Cordova Recreational Sports Center Feature Gym, was hosted by Dr. Leah Jamieson, the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering and Ransburg Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Nuclear Engineering students support Boy Scout activities on campus

Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering students led activities at the recent University of Scouting event held on the West Lafayette campus on November 12. The event provided Boy Scouts from the Sagamore Council the opportunity to earn a variety of badges through hands-on activities directed by Purdue students.

Purdue University Nuclear Reactor, PUR-1, Receives License Renewal Through 2036

Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering recently received notification of renewal of its operating license for the Purdue University Reactor Number One, or PUR-1. The Facility Operating License, issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, enables the reactor to operate for teaching, research, and public outreach through November 2036.

NE professor Shripad Revankar receives U.S. patent

Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering professor Shripad Revankar is part of a team of inventors that was recently granted a U.S. patent for their invention. Granted on October 11, 2016, this invention provides a process of producing ceramic-ceramic composites, including but not limited to nuclear fuels, and composites capable of exhibiting increased thermal conductivities.

Purdue student chapter of ANS to celebrate Nuke Week 2016, October 24 – 27

Members of the Purdue student chapter of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) are preparing several events as part of Nuke Week 2016. Nuke Week is an annual event that allows students interested in nuclear engineering to learn more about nuclear energy, career options, and the School of Nuclear Engineering program at Purdue.
