NE Student Experience
Cassandra Lanceri - Senior
This summer I had the privilege of both studying abroad in China for Maymester and interning with the reactor engineering group at Oconee Nuclear Station with Duke Energy. My brief time in China allowed me to use the intercultural teamwork skills that are taught to every student at Purdue. Two summers ago I had the privilege of attending a program in France that highlighted the differences and similarities of French engineering. I believe that no matter what profession one is going to pursue, understanding diversity and how to utilize differences to make a team stronger is key. Studying abroad for any amount of time provides first-hand experience of the importance of multicultural teams. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the nuclear station and it solidified my desire to work in the nuclear industry. Nuclear power is an exciting industry that is only going to get larger in the upcoming years. I believe now is a great and exciting time to become a part of the nuclear industry.
