Why did you choose Aeronautics and Astronautics?
I have always been interested in space and what lies beyond. This led me to my avid passion for planets. As I grew older however, I discovered my desire to pursue something more applied than theoretical. At the same time, I was starting to really enjoy high school physics and maths which led me to consider engineering and eventually aerospace since it combines my passion for space and maths and physics. Best of all, I get to say I’m doing rocket science!
Best event or organization you’ve participated in within AAE?
Purdue Space Day!!
Best event or organization you’ve participated in outside of AAE?
My Chinese performing arts troupe! I'm the youngest member as well the only non-Chinese member on that team!
Why did you want to be an AAE Ambassador?
I really want to share my passion for the subject and the admiration for the faculty with everyone! I want them to know that the pathway might seem daunting at first but will eventually turn out to be the best decisions of your life and what better way to share my joy than by becoming a student representative!
Favorite place on campus?
Engineering Library in WALC / My room
Favorite class you’ve taken thus far and why?
ME200! Professor Kircher is an amazing lecturer and I would literally talk to him about anything! From professional development to research to regular lecture based questions. The subject matter was challenging but he made it so streamlined! It is the biggest reason why I decided to specialize in propulsion. And then from my current classes AAE 439 with Professor Pourpoint!!!
What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential AAE student?
Don't overwork yourself and take things in your stride. It is very easy to get overwhelmed and lose track of your priorities.
Who is someone you look up to in the Aero/Astro industry and why?
Akshata Krishnamurthy - not only is she a fellow Aerospace Engineer, but she is also working in JPL as an Indian, which resonates with my aspirations! Everytime I feel discouraged, I look at her journey and push myself forward!
What motivates you to succeed?
My family!
What is your ultimate career goal?
Becoming a propulsion engineer at JPL!
What do you like to do when you’re not studying/in the lab or classroom?
Reading books and making legos!
Favorite Fun Fact about Purdue?
You will always be entertained here! There is always something to do for everyone!
