The attached flyer provides information about the spring course ASEC 59100-002: Conducting and Writing a Literature Review in the Social Sciences (CRN 18007), scheduled to run from January 12 – May 2. Conducting and Writing
A Literature Review in the Social Sciences
ASEC 59100-002 (2 cr)
CRN: 18007
 
This course introduces graduate students from all disciplines to recommended practices in developing a sound social science literature review to guide their research. Students will learn systematic literature search strategies and gain experience reviewing, summarizing and synthesizing scholarly literature to inform research in their field of study.
 
After completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Describe the recommended steps and methodology for accessing scholarly literature to inform their study objectives
  2. Use Zotero open-source reference management software to organize and report cited sources
  3. Incorporate feedback from instructors and peers in improving their written documents and writing skills
  4. Develop iterative drafts of a scholarly literature review for submission to their graduate advisory committee or professional conference

Spring semester, 16 weeks (2 credits)
Day/times: Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
