Summer 2025 Graduate Research Assistantship Opportunity
The State Utility Forecasting Group (SUFG) at Purdue University has been assisting the State of Indiana for nearly 40 years through its biennial forecasts of electricity consumption, prices, and resource requirements. SUFG also performs economic and policy impact analyses of a number of issues facing the energy industry. Additional information about SUFG can be found at https://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/sufg/.
SUFG is seeking graduate research assistant for Summer 2025. In this role, the student will be working closely with the Director and the analysts in the following areas of research.
- The annual Study of renewable energy resources used for electricity generation in Indiana.
- Investigating the growth of electricity demand associated with data centers and other large loads seeking to locate in Indiana.
- Conducting literature survey in the use of time-series and stochastic models for capacity expansion and retirement decisions in electric grid planning.
- And other projects as assigned.
The assistantship will be available for the period starting mid-May, 2025 to early August, 2025.
Requirements
The positions are open to graduate students (Master or PhD) with background in Engineering or economics with interest in modeling of energy systems. Useful skill set would include knowledge of econometrics, including time-series and stochastic models, optimization techniques, or power systems planning.
