Faces of Purdue Engineering: Moussa Miller
Faces of Purdue Engineering: Moussa Miller
Moussa Miller can’t estimate how many hours he’s spent watching videos related to cars and playing racing games. Can’t estimate how many times he’s taken something apart and put it back together, a curious mind investigating inner mechanisms. For as long as Miller can remember, he’s been fascinated by cars and driven by a desire to understand how things work.

It was inevitable those two interests would overlap at some point.
“I had the engineering mindset long before I knew what it meant,” Miller said. “When I got my first car, my immediate instinct was to work on it myself, and this hands-on experience deepened not only my interest in cars but also my appreciation for the engineering behind them.”

Then Miller came across an ad for Purdue’s motorsports engineering program — the only accredited such program in the country. The program at Purdue University in Indianapolis, just down the road for the South Bend native, immediately captured his attention.
“It was the perfect blend of my two lifelong passions,” said Miller, the first student to be featured this fall in “Faces of Purdue Engineering.”
Miller applied, was accepted and enrolled last fall in Indianapolis. In August, he started Year 2, and the ride has only gotten better.
He’s connected with like-minded students through the Motorsports Engineering Club and the Endurance Racing Club, and he’s taken advantage of the proximity of the Racing Capital of the World. Miller and a group of Purdue Engineering students visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on a Saturday in late September.
