IE's Behzad Esmaeili and April Savoy Promoted

Last month, Purdue's Industrial Engineering (IE) community made a powerful impact at the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) 2025 Annual Convention in Chicago. With over 100 Purdue Engineering undergraduates and more than 30 graduate students, faculty, and staff in attendance, the Boilermaker presence was impossible to miss.

Keyvan Esfarjani earned bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial engineering in 1992 and 1994, respectively. His 28-year Intel Corporation career commenced in 1996 when he joined as an industrial engineer.

Yu was invited as one of two featured speakers for the IISE Applied Ergonomics Conference (March 17-20).

Visiting Assistant Professor Mohamed Salama, Research Assistant Min K. Lee, and Tompkins Professor Yuehwern Yih have been published in the International Journal of Production Research (IJPR), a leading journal in manufacturing, industrial engineering, operations research, and management science.

The two-day event, with the theme of "Emerging Domains" featured panels and keynotes with several Purdue IE alumni.

The two-day event was co-hosted by ECE Professor Dionysios Aliprantis, and included facility tours, poster sessions and panels, including a panel moderated by IE Alumna Patti Poppe (BSIE '89, MSIE '91) CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric.

Lieutenant General (Retired) Karen Gibson (BSIE '86) was awarded the 2025 Grace Hopper Award by the National Defense University.

Khir was chosen based on the proposal titled "The Value of Limited Flexibility in Future Logistics Systems."
